Spring Break (March 10-18)

Spend Spring Break in Buenos Aires and earn 3 semester hours of undergraduate or graduate credit through our new partnership with the Universidad de Buenos Aires. English is the primary language of instruction.

The Course: Globalization 101

If there is a single world that best captures the spirit of our time that word is globalization. Fueled by rapid advances in technology and communication, life in the 21st Century is characterized by an ever-growing global interdependence and interconnectedness. Globalization influences every aspect of our lives, from the food we eat to the type of jobs available to us.

This course provides students with an overview of the challenges and opportunities of life in a global society. Through the shared stories of Argentine residents students will gain insights into the myriad of ways their lives and livelihoods have been affected by globalization and why globalization is considered a “four letter word” for some. The course will be taught as an integrated set of field visits, films, readings, lectures, and a ground-level view of globalization from the perspective of a range of people,  from street walkers to factory workers.
